The Glenelg River flows approximately 350km from Rocklands Reservoir to the river mouth at Nelson.

The primary purpose of environmental water is to improve the health of rivers and wetlands.

There are additional shared benefits that can be achieved from the use of environmental water, provided there is no compromise towards the needs of the environment.

These shared benefits can include economic, recreational and indigenous cultural benefits.
