Managing and monitoring wetlands

There is a lot of talk about how to manage on-farm wetlands – should we graze them or not? Should we put up a fence and ignore them?

Wetlands are incredibly diverse and resilient ecosystems, and generally easy to look after. However, a few simple things to know when making management decisions which can mean the difference between a healthy, species-rich wetland or a species-poor wetland.
