FIRE RECOVERY – EOI for waterway recovery

Glenelg Hopkins CMA has received funding to assist with the recovery needs of waterways following the 2024-25 Grampians bushfires.
The CMA will target works to protect waterways and water quality, within the fire affected areas, including private land.
This program is aimed at longer term environmental recovery and does not fund work that has already been initiated or completed or can be claimed under insurance (may be partial support for uninsured element).
For eligible works, funding covers all costs including labour. Landholders will be required to enter into an agreement to allow access for work to be undertaken.
In collaboration with landholders, Glenelg Hopkins CMA will manage all aspects of the project delivery including appointment of contractors.
A copy of the agreement is available at any time.
Activities eligible for funding include:
- Riparian and waterway fencing repair or replacement.
- Revegetation of riparian or fire-affected areas.
- Weed control (fire-stimulated or invasive species).
- Erosion and sedimentation controls to trap ash and soil before it enters waterway(s).
- Removal of fire debris from waterway – fencing materials, accumulated ash, obstruction. Includes areas that could impact waterways.
- Establishment of native plants to provide priority soil stabilisation.
