Celebrating citizen science
The annual report on the Estuary Watch Water Watch program is now out, celebrating the many hours of dedicated service our volunteer citizen scientists provide to create a pretty significant statewide picture of river and estuarine health.
Across the state in the last year there was:
- 449 volunteers contributed 14,750 hours of citizen science
- 5,323 people attended our events and information stalls
- 990 participants took part in litter citizen science
- 143 people engaged in platypus events and monitoring
Locally, our Estuary Watch volunteers helped create a picture of what our waterways and estuaries look like in significant drought conditions, and how they respond to historically low inflows.
